Roelof Martense born in 1619, came from Holland to New Netherlands about 1650. He was one of the delegates from the five Dutch towns convening at Flatbush, Long Island in 1664. He married (1st) Neetjie Couwenhoven who was born September 20, 1641. After her death in 1673 he married (2nd) Annetjie (Pieters) Wyckoff who was born November 27, 1650 and who died November 9, 1688. Roelof Martense died in 1704.
Garret Rolefse, son of Roelof and Neetjie, was born October 27, 1671. He married in 1693 Neeltje Coerten Van Voorhees who was born October 1, 1675 and who died August 4, 1750. Garrett Schenck settled in Monmouth County, New Jersey and died there September 5, 1745.
Koert Schenck, born in 1702. He married Mary Peterse Couwenhoven October 10, 1725. She was born July 25, 1700 and died May 17, 1787. Koert died June 2, 1771. Their children are as follows:

Koert Schenck served in the Revolutionary War. [1] (DAR National Number 472,080.)
It is not known when Koert died, but he was living in 1786 when he was fellowbondsman in the estate of Jacob Hendrickson, who died in testate. [2] After his death, it appears that Rebecca married again. She died in 1809. [3]

Note: A biographical sketch of Reverend WILLIAM SCHENCK, born October 13, 1740, the son of Koert Schenck (son of Garret Roelofse), appears in the New Jersey Archives, 1st Series, Vol. 25, “Newspaper Extracts,” Vol. 6, p.469. Of extreme interest is the fact that he was born in Allentown, New Jersey and grew up there. This places Koert Schenck, the father of both William and Koert, in the town where the Imlays lived and only three miles from Imlaystown, New Jersey. Thus, the Schencks and Imlays (another branch of the family) lived in the same town!
