Dear ones all
how are you all this Sabbath morning I hope you are all well and happy I am feeling Some better as the weather is a little cooler but we are all feeling a little sad as Vern has gone to serve his country and Pratt and Paul and Oren Adams Ugeine T. that makes five grand sons for me gone to Serve their country and I expect Douglas will go as soon as he is opperated on for his rupture and then we are left alone and lonely we will be but we are not the only one that is left alone and one poor boy is a prisner in germany and they have cut his ears nose off and split his tongue he sent his watch to his sweet heart and she thought she would wear but it wouldent run and took it to a jewler and he and found a piece of silk paper in with this written on it and said she would never see him again he never would come back and we dont know what will happen to our boys but we can plead with Father for their protechion and if they are humble and faithful we have faith they will be preserved to return to us but there are so many sad things we dont know what to expect. they are all gone to Sunday School and I am alone and I feel alone I mis Vern So much he was lively and cheerfull his wife parted with him bravely but cryed all the way from town his mother the same She never let him see her shed a tear but she cryed all the home to and I expect She will have many crying spells before he returns but she is thankfull he isent a slacker he wanted to go and went cheerfull they are good boys both of them I got a letter yesterd from Jerome he said he was feeling some better but he is so sick of the people where he is but that is the only place he can get work and he has to keep his babas and them taken care off.
Mary Pratt and Inez Stephens are both are look for the stork this fall Inez poor lost both of her babies little boys She has come to stay a year with her mother well I think I had better quit the more I write the worse it gets and I will close with love and best wishes to all
