<div class="ArtSum">In 1853, Edmund Richardson traveled with his small family, his mother-in-law, sister-in-law and her husband toward Oregon to help establish a religious colony in Oregon Territory under the direction of the Reverend George F. Whitworth, whose 1853 diary provides an indirect account of the Richardsons' trail experiences west from Indiana on the Oregon Trail.</div>]]></description>
